Beautiful Things

After two weeks of orientation and preparation, it’s time for school to start tomorrow!  In between meetings and training we’ve been busy scrubbing and cleaning our rooms, rearranging furniture, unpacking boxes of supplies, and doing our best to make our spaces our own.  Doug’s classroom is the same place those classes have been taught in previous years, and yet there was still a lot of work to be done to clean sticky cords, dust and wash pretty much everything, and rearrange the classroom.  The counseling department has an entirely new office area this year which means all five of us will be in the same place instead of spread out across campus.  But this has also meant a lot of unpacking and cleaning and arranging in our part of campus as well!  God has been good to sustain us and we feel pretty good about all that’s been done.  This week ended with an all-staff communion service at the end of the day on Friday and it was incredible to stop and breathe in God’s peace and reassurance that His hand is in every detail of this school’s ministry.  As we sat there He brought to my mind a worship song by Gungor that has been one of my favorites but that I haven’t heard or sang in quite some time.  It was so perfectly fitting as we had watched the chaotic and dusty (there is a LOT of dust here in the dry season) transform into a place where lives will be blessed and changed:

“All around
Hope is springing up from this old ground
Out of chaos life is being found in You

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us”

Such hope we can have in what God will do this school year! Even amidst the dust and my not-quite-yet-decorated office.  He’s so much bigger than that.  (Listen to the whole song here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1spkhp41ig4)

We also took a couple short videos at the school so you can see Doug’s classroom and my office!  Hope it can give you some idea where we’ll be spending our days.  We are so grateful for every prayer and word of encouragement you have sent our way – thank you!
